About Sherrie McGraw (visit Sherrie's website at: www.sherriemcgraw.com)

Born in Wichita, Kansas and raised in Ponca City, Oklahoma, painter and master draughtsman Sherrie McGraw discovered her passion for the arts at a young age. After five years of college, she pursued her studies at the world-renowned Art Students League of New York. Working with instructor David A. Leffel, her interest in the chiaroscuro “way of seeing” deepened.

The strength of McGraw’s work gained recognition as early as 1979. In her twenty-five year career, she has participated in major group shows nationwide as well as the esteemed American Women Artist Invitational Exhibit in Sorrento, Italy. Honored with numerous awards, McGraw’s work has earned inclusion in notable collections throughout the world.

In her role as instructor, McGraw has taught at the Art Students League of New York, the Loveland Academy in Colorado, the Fechin Institute in New Mexico, the Scottsdale Artists School in Arizona, and the Coppini Institute and the Fredericksburg Artists School in Texas. She has further shared her knowledge through the presentation of workshops, demonstrations and private classes. As guest speaker, McGraw has lectured extensively at seminars across the country; publications such as American Artist, Art Talk, Southwest Art and The Santa Fean have featured her work and teachings.

McGraw has made her home in Taos, New Mexico since 1992. The Language of Drawing from an Artist’s Point of View is her first book.
